Brunch in De Pijp: Little Collins and Bakers & Roasters

Little Collins sits on Eerste Sweelinckstraat between Albert Cuypstraat and Sarphatipark. Bakers & Roasters is farther north, on Eerste Jacob van Campenstraat. Both are useful De Pijp choices, but they have their own room, menu and queue; choose one rather than treating their addresses as interchangeable.

Little Collins opens at 09:00 daily, closes at 16:00 and lists its kitchen until 15:30. It describes the published brunch menu as an example because dishes change with its sourcing. Go for that café’s current cooking, rather than arriving with an old photograph of a dish that may no longer be served.

Bakers & Roasters serves its breakfast and brunch dishes throughout the daytime service. Its De Pijp branch is walk-in only, with a waitlist. The operator lists closing at 15:00 Monday–Friday and 16:00 at weekends. The same company has a second branch at Kadijksplein, where a limited number of reservations is available; that exception does not apply to De Pijp.

For an Albert Cuyp visit, remember that the regular market trades Monday–Saturday. On Sunday you can still combine brunch with Sarphatipark and the neighbourhood streets, but not with the usual rows of market stalls. This is a practical difference between a Saturday food-and-market morning and a Sunday brunch.

Garden-side brunch at Dignita Hoftuin

Dignita Hoftuin is at Nieuwe Herengracht 18A beside the H’ART Museum area. Its setting belongs to the eastern canal belt, making it a different choice from crossing town to De Pijp. Choose it when a garden-side meal fits a day around the Amstel and the nearby museums.

The doors open at 09:30, but the kitchen begins at 10:00. Food service ends at 15:00 on weekdays and 15:30 at weekends; the restaurant itself stays open until 16:00 or 16:30 respectively. Reserve the actual meal time rather than reading the door-opening time as the first cooked breakfast.

Its current menu mixes egg dishes, toast, pancakes and plant-based choices. For example, Bright Side Eggs is €15 and Green and Gold is €17 on the menu checked on26 October 2026. The first is an egg dish on sourdough; the second combines poached eggs, potato rösti, avocado and sweetcorn salsa. Optional additions change the price.

Dignita is connected to a foundation that supports people in vulnerable circumstances through training and work opportunities. That social-enterprise background is part of the restaurant’s identity. It does not mean every menu item is vegan: use the dish labels and ingredients when choosing.

Waterfront brunch at Pllek on the NDSM wharf

For an IJ-side brunch, Pllek at TT Neveritaweg 59 combines a restaurant with the industrial setting of NDSM. The breakfast and lunch menus overlap briefly, which is useful if one person wants eggs and another wants a lunch dish.

Breakfast runs 09:30–12:00; lunch runs 11:30–15:30. The breakfast menu includes pancakes, scrambled-egg toast, shakshuka and a vegan avocado toast, while the lunch menu adds different sandwiches and larger dishes. Arriving at 13:00 does not mean that the entire breakfast menu remains available.

The seating rules are especially important here. You can reserve indoor tables only; the terrace is walk-in. On Sunday at lunch, Pllek does not take reservations, and the same lunch restriction applies on both days of an IJ-Hallen weekend. A restaurant reservation is therefore not a terrace reservation or a way around those specific days.

Pllek accepts card payments, not cash. Groups larger than eight use a separate group arrangement. If you are combining the meal with a wharf visit, choose the ferry destination NDSM. The Buiksloterweg ferry near EYE reaches a different part of Noord, rather than delivering you to Pllek.

Pancakes and apple pie: a different kind of late breakfast

A brunch does not have to mean an eggs-Benedict plate. In the canal belt, you can choose a Dutch pancake meal or a café breakfast with pie as a separate sweet order. The style and portion are different, so compare the meal you want rather than putting all pancakes into one category.

The Pancake Bakery on Prinsengracht 191 opens at 09:00. It takes reservations for groups of six or more; smaller groups visit without a reservation. Its large thin Dutch pancakes are different from the smaller American-style blueberry stacks at Bakers & Roasters. Choose the filling and style before comparing the headline price.

At Winkel43, a slice of apple pie is listed at €5.30, with cream separately at €1, while the breakfast special is €10.50. If you want a substantial first meal, decide whether you want that breakfast, an omelette or simply pie and coffee. The café’s Sunday opening is 09:00, compared with07:00 on Monday and Saturday.

Amsterdam brunch prices: named dishes and additions

These are examples from the operators’ published menus, checked on 26 October 2026. They help compare a portion and format; they are not set menus including a drink. Menu changes and any additions should be checked when ordering.

Venue and dishListed priceWhat to compare
Bakers & Roasters — three-piece pancake stack€13.50A smaller stack; the five-piece version is €16 and bacon is an addition.
Bakers & Roasters — Eggs Florentine€14.50Poached eggs with spinach and hollandaise on toast; a vegetarian egg dish, not vegan.
Dignita Hoftuin — Green and Gold€17Poached eggs, rösti, avocado and sweetcorn salsa; bacon is an optional addition.
Pllek — avocado toast€14.50The listed base is vegan; an added poached egg is €2.50.
Pllek — American pancakes€14.50Blueberries, maple syrup and butter; served during the breakfast window.

The same café can also offer a larger plate. For example, Bakers & Roasters lists its Kiwi Brekkie at €25.50 and Vege Brekkie at €20. A three-piece pancake stack is therefore not a reliable estimate for every order at that address. Coffee, juice and extras also need to be included in the actual meal total.

For a plant-based brunch, compare named dishes rather than the appearance of the room. Pllek’s avocado toast is listed as vegan before an optional egg. At Bakers & Roasters, the menu includes a beans-and-tempeh toast, while the Vege Brekkie contains eggs and halloumi. Vegetarian and vegan are different choices here.

A Sunday brunch around De Pijp, Hoftuin or the IJ

Use the meal as an anchor for one part of Amsterdam. The following are alternatives, not a single itinerary: moving between all three would turn brunch into a cross-city journey. Choose the district that fits the rest of the day.

De Pijp and Sarphatipark

Start with Little Collins or Bakers & Roasters, then keep the walk around Sarphatipark and the streets of De Pijp. On Saturday the Albert Cuyp market can be part of the route; on Sunday the regular market stalls are absent.

Hoftuin and the Amstel

Choose Dignita for a meal from 10:00, then continue towards the Amstel or a separately booked nearby museum. The garden-side setting and eastern canal location are the reasons to choose this cluster rather than a De Pijp queue.

NDSM and the waterfront

Choose Pllek when you are already spending time on the wharf. Sunday lunch is walk-in, and market weekends have their own restrictions. Keep the ferry crossing and the walk from the landing in the plan instead of treating NDSM as the area immediately behind Centraal.

For a fixed museum entry later in the day, decide whether an unreserved meal fits the available interval. A queue at Little Collins, a reserved indoor table at Hoftuin and a Sunday walk-in at Pllek are different arrangements. Choosing the right one is more useful than assuming that every brunch venue can provide the same timing.
